Message from the A.S. President

Greetings, Spartans! It is my honor and privilege to serve as your Associated Students President & Chief Executive Officer!

Spartans want to have an amazing and supportive college experience as we work towards graduation. As a campus organization, Associated Students is here for you: our mission is to represent and improve the educational opportunities and experiences of SJSU students.

The passions and values I have developed at San José State University give me the opportunity to advocate for our diverse student body. Nurturing our differences allows us to succeed as students and as individuals.

The A.S. programs and services we have today exist because of our deep history on campus and your student voice! This year, Associated Students (A.S.) takes pride in celebrating its 120th year! We stand on the shoulders of people who have dedicated time, passion, and knowledge to create a culture of students serving students! To learn more about our history, please visit

My time here has taught me the importance of finding my support systems. I could not be in this role without them. As you embark on your college journey, these support systems will be there through good and bad times and will serve as resources for you when you are in need of help. On a campus this large, make sure that you reach out to those who can direct you to the resources and services you need. When you have a question, ask it! If you do not find the answer, work to find the answer yourself and share it with others who will benefit from the knowledge.

A great way to create your support systems is by getting involved on campus. You can join our A.S. Committees and also participate in A.S. events. Our Board of Directors, comprised of 16 elected students, including myself, works collectively to serve and advocate for you and the campus community.

We have nine different departments that provide a variety of services to students and community members. Our departments include Administration, Human Resources, Cesar E. Chavez Community Action Center, Child Development Center, General Services Center, Marketing & Events, Print & Technology Center, Student Government, and Transportation Solutions. Each department offers unique services varying from book vouchers, food assistance, scholarships, community service, to leadership development, and funding for Recognized Student Organizations!

Eight five percent of the current 190+ A.S. jobs are held by us, students! I encourage you to check out open positions at

Please do not hesitate to visit us at the Government suite in the Diaz Compean Student Union or the Associated Students House or even during one of our meetings! We look forward to being of service to you!

Go Spartans!
