Being active in student government helps to build your own leadership skills as well as being a voice and a representative of SJSU students.

The AS Government is divided into two branches : Executive and Legislative.

The Executive branch consists of the President, Vice President, and the Controller. The Executive branch is responsible for the day to day workings of Associated Students by following through on the processing of fiscal matters, policies and student representation.

The highest decision making body within the student government is the Legislative branch called the A.S. Board of Directors. The Board of Directors consists of 13 student leaders who represent the student voice and make decisions on A.S. policies and expenditure of funds.

With a public forum opportunity at every board meeting, students are given the ability to express concerns directly to Associated Students. The Board of Directors meet on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month at 3:00 pm in the Ohlone Room (Council Chambers) on the top floor of the Student Union.

This isn't the only way to get involved. We have great opportunities to be an active member through various AS and University Committees. You can complete our online form right here and be on your way to active student involvement.
