ABOUT THE A.S. 55 AWARD
The A.S. 55 Award is a recognition of distinction for student leaders who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to San José State University and who continually give back to the community. Up to 55 students will be chosen by the A.S. 55 Selection Committee to receive the award. Awardees will be recognized at the annual Student Leadership Gala on May 3, 2017 at the Diaz Compean Student Union Ballroom.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Be fully matriculated: undergraduate students (6 units per semester) or graduate students (3 unitsper semester).
  • Have completed a minimum of 12 semester units.
  • Have a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5.
  • Be in good standing with the University.
  • Not have been a previous A.S. 55 Award recipient.

IMPORTANT DATES 2018: March 16th - Nomination must be submitted no later than 4:00pm

Important: When nominating a student, please allow for ample time fornominee to complete online nomination form.
March 23rd: Letter of Recommendation must be received via e-mail no later than 4pm.
April 6th: Selected awardees will be notified via e-mail. An invitation to the gala will be included.
May 8th: A.S. 55 Awardees to be recognized at SJSU Student Leadership Gala.

HOW TO NOMINATE A STUDENT
Students may be nominated by fellow students, faculty, staff and community members.
Complete an online nomination form by March 16th.

Nominated student must complete the online nomination form no later than Friday, March 23rd at 4:00pm. Nominee will complete four sections outlining the following (250-word limit per section):

Community Service/Philanthropy

Letter of Recommendation: Submit one for your nominee via e-mail. Explain why you have nominated the student. Describe his/her contributions to the campus community. You may also ask a student, faculty or staff. Letter must be e-mailed diana.ogbevire@sjsu.edu with subject: A.S. 55: NOMINEE - LAST NAME, FIRST NAME no later than Friday, March 23rd at 4:00pm.

Honoring Those Who Make A Difference

The A.S. 55 awardees are recognized at the Student Leadership Gala, a campus-wide event - in collaboration with Associated Students, Student Involvement and the Solidarity Network - celebrating the outstanding student leadership at San Jose State University.

Honoring and recognizing the unsung heroes of San José State University; those students who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to SJSU and have continually given back to the campus or local communities.
