Transition to Eco Pass Clipper Card

VTA transitioned the Eco Pass sticker to the Eco Pass Clipper card system in Fall 2015 semester. SJSU students and employees can pick up a Clipper card pre-loaded with the Eco Pass. The SJSU Tower Card ID will still be required to receive and use the Eco Pass Clipper. As displayed on the VTA Clipper Card readers, all current Eco Pass Clipper cards will expire on December 31, 2019 until reprogrammed.

You will receive only one Eco Pass Clipper card. The card's serial number is linked to your name and Tower Card ID. The Eco Pass will be renewed every semester for as long as you take classes or employed at SJSU.

With your Eco Pass Clipper card you'll also have the ability to add other passes and fare from other Bay Area agencies onto one convenient card. Just load the Clipper card with additional funds. The pre-loaded Eco Pass on Clipper card is valid only on VTA Bus and Light Rail lines.

If you are experiencing validation defect or other problems with your Eco Pass Clipper card, do not discard the card, bring it to the AS Transportation Solutions office for a free replacement.

Your Ticket to Ride

With the Associated Students (AS) Eco Pass Clipper card and SJSU Tower Card, SJSU students and employees can have unlimited free rides on all Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) Buses and Light Rail lines.

When you request an Eco Pass Clipper card, a Clipper with its serial number will be assigned to your name and Tower Card.
