AS Eco Pass information for newly admitted Spring and Fall students and their parants
For information on current semester, visit this page.
Thank you for choosing San Jose State University to pursue your academic career.
As a SJSU student you can have unlimited rides on all the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) bus and light rail lines. Just show your Tower Card (Student ID) validated with an A.S. Eco Pass sticker to the bus driver or the light rail fare inspector.
To be eligible to receive the AS Eco Pass sticker, make sure:
REGISTER FOR CLASSES
PAY THE SEMESTER'S UNIVERSITY FEES
OBTAIN YOUR TOWER CARD (SJSU STUDENT ID)
There's no need to sign up and there's no extra fees for Spring and Fall students.
Because the Tower Card is a photo ID card, you must pick up your Tower Card in person at the Student Services Center located on 9th Street.
Present your driver's license or other photo identification to have your picture taken.
A plastic sleeve will be issued with your Tower Card. Make sure to place your Tower Card inside that sleeve. Also make sure that you carry your Tower Card whenever you are on campus.
Pick up your Eco Pass sticker in person
Two weeks before the first day of classes, you can come to the Transportation Solutions Center, located on the main floor of the Student Union building, to pick up your Eco Pass sticker.
At the TS Center, go to the front counter and present your Tower Card. Your Tower Card is required to obtain the sticker and no exceptions will be made.
Receive your Eco Pass sticker by mail
Transportation Solutions sends the AS Eco Pass sticker by mail to most students for each Spring and Fall semester.
Whether and when you will receive the Eco Pass sticker by mail is dependent on when you register for classes and pay your fees, along with other conditions. Please see this page for details.
The AS Eco Pass that you may receive by mail is not valid on VTA until the first day of classes. No matter how early you receive the sticker by mail, fare must be paid on VTA if you ride before the first day of classes.
Please visit the Eco Pass Q & A page for further information.
You do not have to wait for the AS Eco Pass sticker in the mail. You can always visit the TS Center (beginning two weeks before the first day of classes) and the TS staff will issue you a current Eco Pass sticker, a "temporary" Eco Pass sticker that you can use four weeks into the new semester, or both.
