We are having our first-ever, student activist summit!

We are student activists at SJSU interested in building stronger coalitions against the affects of multiple oppressions on campus.

The purpose for the summit is three-fold:
1) to share our stories of social justice struggles and triumphs
2) strategize ways in which we can build stronger coalitions
3) sharpen our analysis around intersecting oppressions

We are inviting student activists who work on issues that relate to :
anti-globalization, environmental justice, disability rights, LGBTQ, gender/sexual identity rights, economic class disparity, and race/ethnic/religious discrimination.

Volunteer Opportuntiy of the Month Dr. Seuss READ ACROSS AMERICA

Volunteers need to visit local schools and read to classrooms.

The National Education Association annually sponsors Read Across America. Now in its twelfth year, the program focuses on how important it is to motivate children to read, in addition to helping them master basic skills.

The nationwide reading celebration takes place each year on or near March 2, the birthday of children's author Dr. Seuss. Across the country, thousands of schools, libraries, community centers, and more participate by bringing together kids and books, and you can too!
Your reading event can be as simple or elaborate as time and inclination allow. Whether you choose to scale up or down, keep in mind the basic premise and it's almost sure to be a success:
On March 2, the National Education Association is calling for every child to be reading in the company of a caring adult.
