Spartan Legacy Training Academy

Become a change agent. The Spartan Legacy Training Academy is a series of workshops engaging the intersection of social justice and holistic development. Benefits include a Certificate of Completion, networking, and personal and professional development.

*Student participants must attend at least (3) three workshops during their SJSU academic career to earn a certificate.

Spring 2019
Workshop 1: THE ART OF THE PROTEST
Tuesday, February 5, 11am-12pm
Diaz Compean Student Union, 2nd Floor, Meeting Room 1A
Rally together with fellow Spartans to learn what it is to protest in times of political change. This workshop will encourage students to get involved and make powerful personal and visual statements that promote social change on campus, locally and globally.

Workshop 2: SOCIAL JUSTICE SEWING ACADEMY
Thursday, February 28, 3-6pm
Diaz Compean Student Union, 2nd Floor, Meeting Room 1A
Piecing together student voices, textile art, and community in a 21st-century sewing circle, this workshop is a transformative experience that promotes togetherness and brings attention to social justice issues.

This YouthSpeaks workshop will build on our collective strength and knowledge to draw lyrical maps leading us home to our own power and identity. Explore people, places, and movements that brought us here today and that continue to form who we are as we grow.
