Each year, a group of up to 15 extradorinary students will come together to go above and beyond the call of duty. Distinguished by our custom-made "San Jose State" blue and gold striped neckties, we can be seen leading the chants and cheers at various sporting events.

And not only that, but large-scale events like the annual Ice Cream Social Kickoff and Spartan Basketball Showcase are almost exclusively thought up, maintained, and run by the student Squad Leads (with much appreciated help from SJSU Athletics and Associated Students, of course).

We love reaching out to the new faces we see, both young and old, wandering about Spartan Stadium, The Event Center or anywhere else. We value approaching students with BIG smiles on our faces and pulling them over to where they belong: OUR very proud student section!

We work together to organize tabling awareness campaigns, set up t-shirt distribution tents and just plain have fun getting our colleagues pumped up for games.

Think of us as a sort of Knights of the Round Table. We are a democracy and make decisions based on consensus. We volunteer our hours and energy because we understand that what we do serves a greater good. What we do is bigger than anyone of us individually. Even the smallest of tasks benefits our peers, our university and the community. It amplifies the "college experience" at SJSU and (if we are successful) we be remembered forever by all of those we touch.

Finally, the last thing you should know about us, the SQUAD LEADS, is the fact we are all FRIENDS. We make it a point to all go out at least once a month and just have some good ol' fashon fun. Whether its bowling in the Student Union or enjoying some hot wings over at University Chicken, its all about hanging out together and sharing in the good times.
